IELTS is the English Language Testing System. If you want to study or work where English is language of communication, IELTS is the ideal test for you.
The IELTS Band Score :
  • Band 9 : Expert User
  • Band 8 : Very Good User
  • Band 7 : Good User
  • Band 6 : Competent User
  • Band 5 : Modest User
  • Band 4 : Limited User
  • Band 3 : Extermely Limited User
  • Band 2 : Intermitten User
  • band 1 : Non User
if we wanna work in Australia, the minimum score of IELTs is Band 6... So, we must hard work to get that score if we seriously to go to Australia or the other country with IELTS is used.
the test format of IELTS are :
  1. Listening test --> 30' contain of 40 question
  2. Academic / General Training --> 60' contain of 40 question
  3. Academic / General Training Writing --> 60' contain of 2 topics
  4. Speaking Test --> 11 - 15' contain of 3 parts
 Before sitting the test, it's important to:
  1. familiarise your self with the test format
  2. Improve your test skills with practice tests
  3. Use your English skill every day
I have an improvement tips, there are...
  1. Know the format : Understand the test structure, familiarise your self with the question types used, know the different questions types, and focus to answer
  2.  Test Format : the first practice is timing. You should practice reading and writing under time constraints ( skimming and scanning)
  3. Use English everyday : Your IELTS score will reflect your language ability and how you apply it in certain situations, Join with English group, listen to English songs, watch for English movies, read English books or magazines, practice your English speaking skill every day even you dream in English
 GENERAL AREAS

1. LISTENING
  • Practising all queation types
  • Recognising intonation patterns
  • Varieties of spoken English
  • Listen for spesific information, keywords, general information, number, marker ( firstly, secondly, etc)
 
2. READING
  • Practising all question types
  • Skimming ( to get general understanding)
  • Scanning (looking for spesific information)
  • Developing vocabulary
  • Summarising
  • Determining the writer's attitude and opinion 

3. WRITING
  • Practising all question types
  • Adjusting style according to purpose
  • Writing paragraphs, introduction and conclusions
  • Using conjunctions and referents
  • Organising information logically within a text
  • Using examples and evidences to support an argument

4. SPEAKING
  • Practising all question types
  • Practising pronounciation and intonation 
  • Practising fluency
  • Using and understanding common phrases
  • Interacting with other speakers
  • Speaking for extended time on a particular topic
  • Discussing that topic
